  1. Huckleberry Finn is very entertaining once you get past the way it is written. After chapter eight it really takes off, and even thought i am not very far into the book i am enjoying it.

  2. This book is very fun and adventures to read because there is a lot of scenes where Huck is trying to find freedom for himself. My favorite part in this book so far is when Huck finds his father in his room. This part was awesome because his dad says things that parents don't normally say. For example when his dad tells him to stop going to school.

What has been your least favorite part of the book so far and why? Also I think the part with his dad was sad because instead of being happy for his son he was angry that Huck was not only going to school and doing well but he had started to make a name for himself. I think that as a parent you are supposed to be happy for your kid and want the best for them no matter what.

    2. Yes you are right, i believe that parents should be there for their children's. My least favorite part in this book is when Huckleberry Finn dressed up as a girl. It was my least favorite because I thought it was pretty obvious that he was going to get caught by the old lady he went to. But so far I like it reading it.

  3. This is my opinion of the book huckleberry Finn so far as I have read. There is only one only two reason it would be band for that I can see so far is the use of the n word, and how to fake your own death in that time period but that doesn’t stand up today. Now I’m enjoying reading the book.

  4. This book has been great so far! I am only on chapter six and already there have been three great intense scenes. Huck has tried to find his freedom and not let Tom Sawyer put him down in the process. One reason why this book has been band is for the excessive use of the “N” word. My favorite part so for is when the widow tries to teach Huck how to pray, and he finds out that God does not always answer your prayers when you want him to. I can’t wait to read the rest of the book and find out the trouble Huck gets in to.

  5. The adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a book I really can’t relate to I do not look for adventure in reality, I do not get into difficult situations, I also have not run away from home, and I would die in a week left to my own devises in a forest unlike Huck, or Jim. Because all these things I like this book. Now for the quote “‘well there’s five “n words” run off to tonight, up yonder above the head of the bend. Is your man white or black?’” pg.72 (Note for whoever needs it the “n words” in the medal of the sentence is different from the word actually used in the book.) In my opinion there’s nothing wrong with this sentence when considering the time it was based off or rote in (I do not know which it is.) but sense some time has passed sense ether of these events, and it is now very easy to offend a majority of people I do see why its band. I chows this quote because I randomly opened the book and chows the first sentence with the “n word” in I for I know that word is a touchy subject. This section shows precisely why this book was band. In the end there’s one thing you shod take from this books are like TV and video games there’s things in them you shouldn’t do or say.

  6. Is it acceptable to ban a book?
I say no it isn't. telling an author after they worked so hard to write and publish a book that it can't be in out in the open for anyone to read because of a way its written, how they talk or act in the book or time frame is like telling an artist that his painting can't be put in an art show because of what is in it after he worked so hard to make it. There should be no restriction on someones work. it makes me mad that they banned Huckleberry Finn because the "n" word is said several times throughout the book. So what!? Back in those time calling an African american slave the "n" word was socially normal. We walk around saying that lady, that man and nobody jumps up and says that's a bad name. back then the "n" word was normal and accepted. if you ban the book or even think about changing the text so it didn't include the word it's ruining the story, it ruin the affect of the book. Banning the book from the PUBLIC library is ridiculous every one should have the right to ba able to read the book and if they find something in it that they don't like, to bad so what get over it no one said they had to read the book and like it. they should't make it were no one else can read it either. My response remains the same if someone wanted to ban a book from the high school, every student has a right to these book and if they find one that has something in it they don't like then its their problem. It isn't fair to others, and a slap in the face to the authors. A good time for censorship in our world would be around little kids. but not in books. One example is the book "Looking for Alaska" there are teens in that book that drink alcohol and yet its banned. why? teen drinking is all over today's tv. it is in tv shows, movies, music, media, paper ads... what makes it so bad that it gets a book banned? I find it crazy that Huckleberry Finn is banned because it has the 'n' word in it. that's how they talked, they are not meaning it offensively. My overall opinion is that books should not be banned.

  7. Is it acceptable to ban a book from a school library? in my opinion no, i do not think it is acceptable to ban a book from the library. a library is for everyone to go and read books they they want to read. there are no restrictions at the library of what you can and cannot read there. Just because someone does not like a book because of something that is in it does not mean that nobody else should be able to read it also. Look at movies and television shows, there are people out there how absolutely love a certain show or movie and then there are people who cannot stand the same thing. Nobody is going around banning a movie that came out because there is something that people frown on such as teen drinking. What is the difference when it comes to books? My response to someone who wants to ban a book is this. They are not only denying others the opportunity to read that book but they are also being rude to the author of the book. Like I said before:... is like telling an artist that his painting can't be put in an art show because of what is in it after he worked so hard to make it. There should be no restriction on someones work.

  8. Assignment 3
This is a minor review of the book Huckleberry Finn. First theirs some characters I should tell you about. The first ones Huckleberry Finn a.k.a. Huck Finn a.k.a. Huck (white) the main character, his dad (white) a bad person, Jim Huck’s faithful companion (African American), and Tom sawyer the “I need excitement” guy (white). That covers the important characters. Now for background the author wrote this book in a time where the “n” word was an okay thing to call African Americans. A time of slavery, where African Americans and people from Asia where treated like there less because they weren’t white. Now for my opinion, and this should not effect your opinion at all. It’s an okay book it has its ups, and downs. I say don’t read if your easily offended by the “n” word, but if you are offended by the “n” word, and read this review you can’t say I didn’t warn you. There are its up sides like example removed do to spoilers, and it has its downs like saying the “n” word all the time, or example removed do to spoilers. It’s hard to review without spoiling portions if not all of the book because it’s so short, and all of this is my opinion. In my opinion all of this should count. More background Mark Twain lived from 1835-1910 that’s 75 years if I’m doing my math rite. The book I read was printed in 2000. (If that’s what the Copyright means.) I read that I need to say “why” it’s an okay book in my opinion, and the answer is if you’re a teacher, and trying to ban the book go out and lesion to the conversations going on in the hall if not one person in the hall says something as bad if not worse you’re not lining in the wrong places or are bad at blending in.

  9. In my opinion (You should not change your opinion just because some guy on the internet sees it that way.) you should not fight a banned book you should just walk, or get a ride to a not school library, and check it out no questions asked. In my opinion you also should not ban books because it’s so essay to get around it it’s not worth banning them. I mean come on you walk over to one of the not school library, and check it out no questions asked. Now for my opinion about “Is it ever okay to ban a book on a high school level.” I say no because they have learned how to lie well enough to find out almost anything they want to see, read or learn with little to no resistance. Now for the actual question of “Is there ever a time and place for censorship in our world?”, and the surprising answer is yes little kid’s should not have something rated X. (If you have to ask look it up.) What do I consider a little kid? Birth to age 14 is about the time there little kid in my opinion. That’s about the time they hit high school.

    Assignment #2

"I hadn’t had a bite to eat since yesterday, so Jim he got out some corn-dodgers and buttermilk, and pork and cabbage and greens—there ain’t nothing in the world so good when it’s cooked right—and whilst I eat my supper we talked and had a good time. . . .We said there warn’t no home like a raft, after all. Other places do seem so cramped up and smothery, but a raft don’t. You feel mighty free and easy and comfortable on a raft."

I picked this quote becasue peaple can relate to it every day. In this quote the raft repsensents a way to get away from everything in the world and just take a step back like we all need once in a while. The food represents how even the littlest things in life can make you happy because even though it wasnt the best food in the world it tasted amazing. It's amazing how the littlest things in life can you happiest and trun your day around. I feel sometimes we all get cought up in what we are doing, that we never notice how much the little things count and how empty our lifes would feel if we didn't have them.

    Assignment #3

There are some things I need to tell you about huckleberry finn, First are some characters, Huckleberry Finn(Finn)(Huck) is the main character and he is white, His dad who is also white, don't really perfur him, he is not a nice man at all, Hucks bestfriend who is black, and Tom Sawyer the true adventurous of the group. Second is the background, this book was writen back when salvery was around and it was okay to call African-Americans the "N" word, both African-Americans and asians where treated poorly because they where not white. My view of this book is it was an okay book, there where some things I liked and others that I didn't really agree with. The book had its highs and lows, I didn't find it every suspenseful at any points but it was an alright read.

      Assignment #3 (last Part)

Samuel Langhorne Clemens better known as "Mark Twain" was born November 1835 and died April 1910. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is the sequel to The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Huckleberry Finn was published in 1883, seven years after Tom Sawyer. Some people called Huckleberry Finn the, "First Great American Novel." The book later became required reading in many schools throughout the United States. Tom did not have any problems getting the book published, even though it had exsisive use of the "N" word.

Is it acceptable to ban a book from a school library?
I say no we shouldn’t be able too. Banning a book is telling the person who wrote it, that is isn’t acceptable for readers to read. After they worked so hard to not only write the book but get it published, you are telling them NO because it isn’t appropriate for others to read. Who are you to decide what others can and can’t read? They know their limit and what they can handle. The students role in getting a book banned is pretty much whether or not they are mature enough to handle the book and not make a big deal about that is going on. My response would be “If it doesn’t directly effect you then you shouldn’t have a problem with it, and if it does then put the book down and stop reading it, it is as simple as that. You don’t have to go out of your way to make a big deal about something that is as little as a book. Yes, there is a time and place for censorship in our world and it’s to the little kids, until they get in to high school and start learning about the real world.
